Trip to Ohio--Part 6: Finally Arriving in Ohio

As we pulled out of the reception to finally head to Ohio late Saturday night, David went from singing at the top of his lungs to snoring in 45 seconds flat.

Sunday morning we woke up as houseguests in the newly married couple's home. Upon arrival late Saturday night, we met their sweet dog Bentley, who we cared for while they were away on their honeymoon. Lucky for us, she was a really sweet and well-behaved dog. Lucky for her, her beloved Hanson and Maggie would be home with their normal routine before the week was through.

We also tended their garden while we were away. One morning while I was watering their plants, David was playing next to me, poking at bugs and such. Suddenly he went into hysterics, resulting from a bee sting. Apparently David had picked the bumble bee up. I had warned him that they hurt--but now he knows that bees will really sting, even the finger of a curious little boy who means them no harm.

Sunday morning at church was special--Aaron blessed Baby Clara in the ward where he grew up. It's always fun to reconnect with people in the New Philadelphia ward. This was the 5th time I've been to that ward as a visitor, and the 5th time that we were the last ones to leave the church parking lot after Sam was done chatting with some long-time friends.

Sunday was spent with everyone (except the newlyweds) at Nana and Pappy's house, enjoying Sunday dinner and good conversation. We had such a big meal at noon with grilled steak and chicken, potato salad, baked beans, chips and the works that we decided to go light for the evening meal. So we pulled out the donuts, leftover wedding cake, cookies, and ice cream for supper. It was an astounding amount of sugar. Peggy's sister, Jane and her family were also in town with us, so it was a real treat to spend time with Uncle Alan, Aunt Jane, Shannon, and Kelly.

Monday was spent catching up on laundry and naps. Then in the evening, we met up with Sam's childhood friend and his family at Tuscora park, which happens to have little rides for the kids.

Davy Johnson and Sam catch up--they were buddies through their scouting years in the program for Young Men. Sam has many fond memories of Davy's dad as his scout master--and that dear scout master had a campout on his property every week for any scouts who wanted to participate. Now that's a dedicated leader!
I guess by now David is used to holding hands with any cute girl he plays with--He and Martha hit it off while we enjoyed the rides in the park.
Riding the rockets.
The Merry-go-round is always a favorite.

What a trip! Sounds action packed and so fun for Sam to be able to go "home". Nothing like being able to connect with old friends and introduce the families. Glad you all had a fun time!
