The neighborhood dogs were going crazy--and it was enough of a chorus from every yard that I checked for wildlife from the safety of my deck. Can you see what they were barking at?
Here it is a little closer--a cow moose lying in the brush, about 10 yards from our property.
The dogs were anxious that she was there, but she was just enjoying herself and those huuuuge ears would occasionally twitch.
She eventually got up and wandered closer to the barking dogs' fence, minding her own business and eating branches all along the way (and making those dogs go even crazier over her presence!).
Every now and then I have to remember just how wonderful it is to live where wildlife are still part of the daily scenery.
