Bottle Him Up

I am absolutely delighting in David's 3-year old antics.

Some of his words:
Mickuter--Computer
Special Ta'ccasion--Special Occasion
(Which is our designation for the exception to the rule--a very important communication piece for a boy that remembers every detail and wants things predictable.)
~~~~~~~~~~
When I'm trying to talk to him about a misbehavior, here's how our conversation goes.
Me: David, what should you do differently next time?
David: (in a very serious tone) T'ah obey.
It's his standard answer, and it makes me giggle every time!
~~~~~~~~~~
 Sometimes in the middle of dinner (when he has our full attention) he'll get down from his chair and call out, "Hey Mom and Dad, watch me grow!" Then he holds very still while we watch him . . . grow!
~~~~~~~~~~
When David has the opportunity to applaud for someone, he does it with his whole self! There's a twinkle in his eye and he absolutely delights in showing his enthusiasm for someone else's success.
~~~~~~~~~~
"Show me, Mom! Show me!" This said with all the exuberance he can muster, usually jumping in place, trying to get me to follow him so he can show me something.
The other morning it was the backyard--he wanted to show me how much the snow had melted.
Here's what met my gaze:
 David is optimistic to the core.
~~~~~~~~~~
Do you see all of those things in the snow--toys we've lost throughout the winter play, or blown there by a wind storm from our deck. David is thrilled to watch them appear. "Look at all those toys growing out of the snow, Mom!"
~~~~~~~~~~
David loves to use zizzors. Almost as much I love to hear him use that word. He's very careful to only cut his project with them, and not mommy's papers
~~~~~~~~~~
We were driving past a parking lot where a group of business men were leaving an office building. They all had on long dress coats, and going to their cars. "Hey mom, are those mans going home to play with their Davids?"  Yes, little buddy--because there's nothing more wonderful in the world than being on your way home to play with your David!
You still have that much snow? I hope it was from a few weeks ago! Ours is almost all melted and we really have our whole yard and we are loving it! And also, I'm excited to meet you guys this week. David sounds hilarious!
Those are GREAT! You'll be so glad you captured those in writing. . . makes me want to find time to do some blogs again. The cuteness leaves too quickly.
And you have a great backyard, Carmin -- I didn't realize how big it was. . . perfect place to 'watch' him grow!
