The Sunday evening before Christmas, we had a few families from our ward join us to enact the nativity scene. Each of us only had one or two kids, so by joining forces, we thought maybe we could make the scene more complete.
Baby Elli was perfect for acting as Baby Jesus. She just sat in her "manger" carseat and watched all the other actors around her. Their average age was two and a half. One of them decided Baby Elli had nice swaddling clothes, or maybe they were confused why the clothes didn't fully cover her--but they started pulling the clothes up to wrap around her face. Poor girl! We (the adults) were all laughing so hard, and I'm afraid that brought an abrupt end to the program. Good thing Luke 2 is short and sweet. I don't think the toddler crew or adult crowd could have been reverent longer than the 4 1/2 minute skit. Here are 4 of the 6 players:

David was a sheep. Can you see cute little Jonathan shepherd watching the sheep? He didn't really know what to do himself, so he just followed David's example.
If you can't lead them, join them--so Jonathan was the shepherd acting like the sheep, and the whole procession was very entertaining.
By the way--David had a great sheep sound. It must have been from seeing them at the fair, because I don't know where else he could have come up with such an authentic baaa.
