Caught! This is the look David gets when he drops his tray contents on the floor. We practice "On the tray, David. On the tray." while pointing to his tray. But somehow, he ends up with this face, his arm disapears to his side, and we hear a thud.
Very occasionally, when we coax him to put it on the tray (with our hands moving his arms in that direction) we will cheer for his success. But most often, this is how the saga continues--David inspecting his goods, and probably wondering how they got all the way down there.
Can you see his sippy cup, his teething biscuits, and a few small crackers? Notice that all the items are "dry"--he'll have a chance at a bowl of food in front of him once he can manage to keep these things on his tray.

The dry things are nice. But when we started feeding Lil O real food, when he didn't want to eat anymore, he did not give it to the dog (we do not have one) so he would just drop it on the floor and then his tray would be clean. He would then get in trouble and have to pick everything up by himself. This problem was not fixed until we sat him in the big boy chair at the table with us. Good luck with David, though. He's so cute!

Ha ha, that is really cute! Jake still loves to drop all kinds of food on the floor and he is almost 2! It's such a fun game, he can't understand why we don't want him to play it!
Oh man, is that carpet underneath his high chair--sorry for you if it is. Blake wanted to put a rug underneath our kitchen table and I said, "Are you kidding?"
You are doing so well with the training to keeping the food on the tray. It is inevitable that some will get on the floor so my solution from years of living in rentals with carpeted eating areas was to put down the plastic that they sell to go under desk roller chairs. It saved me a lot of stress over worrying about the carpet while we were in the training process.
Carpet under the high chair? I'd definitely be sticking to dry foods, too! What a cutie he is!
