Right now it is a beautiful crisp fall day outside with blue skies and the sun shining brightly. But the weather has not been so well behaved lately. In the last 24 hours, we have had snow, rain, wind (over 100 mph, to be exact--it closed down the airport and power failures closed down schools) and now it is blue skies with a slight breeze. The picture shows what we call "Termination Dust"--snow on the mountains that signal the end of the summer. It means it's time to pull out the winter gear, find the snow shovel and put snow tires on the car. Summer is the reason that people endure 9 months of winter--just to live in the Alaska summer. Goodbye sweet sweet Alaska Summer!

Sam and Carmin,
Thanks so much for your comment to Bri, our special birth mother. We wanted you guys to know that our prayers are with you. Remember, all of this happens in Heavenly Father's time. That is something we've had to learn. If we could offer some advise it would be to be patient, be hopeful, and have faith. When you prepare your LDSFS profile we recommend you keep your responses (somewhat)short. Also, try to avoid sad stories. Most birth mothers have a sad story of their own and want to hear something "happy." Also, we recommend you add a picture to your names in the search field. This offers birth mothers a head start at seeing what you are all about. Below is the forwarded email from Eve Eden (LDSFS email moderator):
Below is the email address of the lady who wrote instructions for putting pictures on the Brief Introductory Statement page and the new guidelines set up by LDSFS for the pictures there.

Adoptive Couple Profile Policy Change
Due to requests from birth mothers and adoptive couples, the following policy change requires your attention.
As an adoptive couple, you currently have the ability to add your personal profile to the adoptive couple profile section. This area enables birth mothers to view your profile along with other couple's profiles. A search page allows a birth mother to search for couples that closely fit what she is looking for in a couple. Often she will have a search that returns hundreds of adoptive couple profiles.
The amount of information that is viewed on the search page affects the speed with which the page opens. When there are a lot of pictures and banners, the loading time is very long, even if the birth mother's internet speed is fast. This can be discouraging for a birth mother.
In order to make the birth mother's search a positive and productive experience, the following guidelines apply to the Brief Introductory Statement section on the first page (the basic information page) of your profile:
1. If you would like to insert a picture link, the displayed picture must be no larger than 135 pixels x 135 pixels and no more than 256 colors (GIF files are recommended).
2. Do not use fonts larger than 12 point.
3. Do not embed banners, scrolling text or roll over images.
4. Text links to your personal web site are acceptable.
Additional pictures, links and banners can be added to other areas of your profile as desired.
Content in the Brief Introductory Statement section that does not fit within these guidelines will be removed by Family Services. The deadline for removing additional pictures or banners is May 1, 2008. Please note that this is a temporary solution until LDS Family Services is able to update the Its About Love Web site later this year which will have enhanced features. If you have questions, please contact your case worker.
I hope that this information helps you in creating your online profile. None of it was shared with us by LDSFS. We had to inquire on our own and Eve got us the necessary information. But when creating your profile, be honest. Be yourselves. You will be blessed with a beautiful child. Good luck, and if you have questions, feel free to ask!!!
Adam
